01 · What ME is

Manufacturing Entropy is the breakdown of your value-producing system.

Erosion is where that value is breaking down. Value stream mapping shows where you make value; Manufacturing Entropy maps where you lose it. It doesn't replace Lean, TPS or continuous improvement. Manufacturing Entropy is meant to make your continuous improvement efforts more effective, more precise and less time-consuming, by pointing them at the real leak. Data confirms the result instead of leading the hunt.

02 · The sources of entropy

Which one owns this loss?

Value erodes through five sources: Equipment, Flow, Information, People and Organization. Every loss traces back to one of them, so the first question is always the same: which one owns this loss? Naming the source before chasing a fix keeps the effort on the leak itself, not on whatever the dashboard happens to show.

03 · How to fight it

Own it at the source. Stop it fast.

Put ownership as close to the source of erosion as it can sit, where the loss is easiest to manage. The sooner erosion is recognized and the faster it is stopped, the more value is preserved. The owner nearest the problem needs real authority to stop the leak the same shift, because ownership without the ability to fix is scapegoating.

04 · The tools to fight it

JEDI

A clear report from inside your plant.

JEDI turns your plant's messages, notes and signals into one red, yellow and green report of where value is leaving while the board still looks fine, and who is closest to fixing it. It runs locally at your plant, offline, so your data never leaves the building. Run it whenever you want a clear picture, like the start of every shift.

JEDI takes shift notes, chat messages, downtime logs, emails, whiteboards, quality holds, maintenance tickets, dashboards, spreadsheets, handoff sheets, shift reports and MES alerts, and sorts them into Red, active value erosion; Yellow, threat to value production; Green, erosion stopped; and Black, opportunity for improvement based on the data.

05 · JEDI Meeting Report

Stop rebuilding the meeting.

Send one messy meeting transcript or set of notes and get back a one-page color-coded report. Red holds the vital decisions, owners and next actions; yellow, the awareness items; green, the low-relevance talk; black, the improvement opportunities. Noise never makes the page, so everyone leaves with the same decisions, owners and next actions.

06 · Ways to work with me

Three ways to start.

Start with JEDI by the week, add my monthly Manufacturing Entropy Map, or bring me in person to train your team. Every option keeps the same goal: clear actions and clear owners, so more of your shift goes to producing value. Pick the level that matches how much of the plant you want covered.

JEDI + Mapping

$3,500per month

JEDI every week, plus my monthly map. Manufacturing Entropy Mapping focuses your continuous improvement efforts, meaning you're less dependent on the data and closer to the source of erosion. The map shows which source owns each loss and who is closest to fixing it. One 60-minute remote review each month.

Every tool in one place.

Manufacturing Entropy HQ is where all my tools live: JEDI, the JEDI Meeting Report, and VaultAssure and StockAssure, still in development for tool tracking and inventory. It shows what is live and what is next.

08 · About

Protecting the value plants create.

Manufacturing Entropy exists to protect the value that plants and their people create. It is built on years of working in manufacturing and on advanced manufacturing study at Purdue, earned through certificates. The aim is worth the effort: keep good work from leaking away.
